Where Are Boys At Right Now?
Designed for teen boys, this up-to-the-minute presentation takes a close look at boy culture and the ad industry, sensitively exploring a whole raft of issues from self-esteem and brand slavery, to drinking, driving and other risky behaviour. Alongside these issues, fun funky solutions are explored. In this session boys learn how to recognise when they’re being marketed to, and how best to navigate the constant pressures to act out, spend, abandon their take on things to please their peers.
Maggie Hamilton has conducted two extensive pieces of research, interviewing boys from a wide range of backgrounds, alongside teachers, school counselors, psychologists, law enforcement, medical and other health care personnel to better understand how boys are experiencing life right now. Building on her many insights, she offers teen boys powerful ways out of their pressured lives.
